Challenger Course - 22 Mile
The bike portion of the event starts at the Frankfort Open Space and travels along the Betsie Valley Trail to the East and South. This is a fourteen (14) mile course comprised of trail and road sections of Benzie County. On the course you'll ride along Betsie Bay, the Betsie River and along the South shore of Crystal Lake. The course then brings you back into Frankfort on historic M22. A few quick turns through residential streets in the city and you're back to the transition area where you'll be directed toward the transition area to rack your bike in your assigned area.
The paddle portion of the event starts at the Frankfort boat launch and occurs in the sheltered waters of Betsie Bay. Dependent on the weather conditions and other factors this will be a loop course, in the event that the course changes from the one shown, notification will occur at the racer meeting on race day. This is a two (2) mile paddle. At the conclusion of the stage you will exit the water at the same location you started and with the assistance of the course workers place your watercraft in your assigned area.
The run portion of the event is a six (6) mile course which starts at the Frankfort Open Space and travels along the Betsie Valley Trail to the East and South. The course then heads East off of the trail onto county roads. The course goes uphill over Carlson Road and then flattens out leading you to the Betsie Valley Trail which will take you to the finish. As Classic racers may be on the course as well all travel must be to the right hand side of the lane. Overtaking will only occur when there is no oncoming traffic. When you return to Frankfort you will see your goal, the Finish Line! Congratulations, you did it!!!!
